This morning I visited several Perodua showrooms around the Klang Valley and the response for the Perodua Nautica so far has not been what you'd expect from a "national" car launch, crowd are non-existence and the salesman are all roaming around anxiously waiting for a dude thats is willing to drop a 100 k on a so called "national" car. Even on the net; responses from netizens of several local automotive forums has not been that encouraging with most questioning Perodua's move in bringing a CBU model from Japan and that close to RM 100k price tag. This is at a time when Perodua is spending big bucks to strengthen its brand, but this Nautica exercise would certainly make the public question Perodua's validity as "Perusahaan Otomobil "Nasional" Kedua Malaysia" as they have gone from having up to 90% local content in a car to just merely fitting a MyVi steering wheel inside a Daihatsu Terios. Something a 15 year old mechanic I know could do effortlessly.
Finally should you have anything to say about the Perodua Nautica post them below and we're giving away a pretty cool looking 4GB USB Bracelet-drive to the response we like best. |

ok, the nautica is good because it's a CBU car from Japan. But what is the point here for bringing in a CBU car? Branding exercise? To me, it's been to have a CKD version of it instead and sell it at the price of the Kembara. I will guarantee it as a success. Sorry to say that the Nautica will have a hard time due to Malaysian's mindset. Why bother paying 90 K for a compact car? 90K can get me a Mitsubishi Storm which is 4wd an more fun........! Sorry to break the fun. Lastly, Perodua should do a marketing survey about what the 'rakyat' wants...
The first thing to be broken is the steering wheel!!
Nautica VS Rush
4WD RWD
CBU Japan CBU Indonesia
2 row seater 3 row seater
I prefer Nautica.
the perodua nautica is hard to be defined as a national car IMHO, unless you define fitting a myvi steering wheel and some bumper engineering fit the Nautica in the same league as investing millions if not billions building a national car from the ground up.
Anyway the material used in the Nautica beat the Rush hands down, first of all the Toyota Rush is a CBU but a CBU from Indonesia while the Nautica is a CBU unit from Japan.
I'd suggest if you have the time during the long weekend go to a Perodua showroom first and inspect the nautica and then go to a Toyota showroom and take a look at the Rush while at the same time compare the Rush to the Toyota Avanza. Then you'll understand
For me the price of this car is way too expensive for national car..
Better u buy a Rush even the price is just slightly higher than Nautica but for sure the quality is triple than a nautica and the brand of Rush which is Toyota make u more glamour than u drive a perodua..
Personally i think that it's a great move for Perodua to launch this Nautica.
I went to check out the new Nautica and i found that it's a very good car. It got some specs where only luxury car have and the built quality of the interior is quite 'Japanese' (that means decent).
The only problem that Nautica face is the price. I hope that Perodua will launch a CKD Nautica in the near future to lower down the price of the Nautica.
Nautica or Rush.....
Value for money please.
Same product, change brand and nation made only la......
Better go to Rush.
Cannot support national car because their not support me as Malaysian.
