I'm referring to comment posted by 'Cheated Malaysia'.
Yes, the proton saga is the same category with H.City and T.Vios (Compact sedan) but different classes.. You need to understand why proton build/design cheap car and not forgotting the quality.
I agree with En. webmaster statement,
'So tomorrow before you get into a Proton showroom please change your state of mind do not try to compare this car with a Honda City or Toyota Vios because it is priced much lower than those two (almost a RM 50k difference). It is unfair to do such comparison;'
OK... we compared to toyota belta / vios 1.3, same class and same category. do u know how much it is?
USD 17000-18000 (RM61000-65000)...
can u imagine what proton can do if they sell the proton saga RM 50000..
of course they got a lot of things that they can add and modified....
but..... who wants to buy it?
We are a malaysian citizen, we must support our national car maker, give them(proton) 1 last chance to improve their management and product...

Dear, proton. we has waiting for long time already for this design.. the design
a-mezing and look much more de-f'ren but elegent and nice to look.. 'I'm personally
to say that I no verry intrested of proton design before, but now I wanted one for my
family soon. I knew that proton will be increces of montly sale by this year and the
future as well. show it's that proton can go further & better then import car now and for ever
I'll buy by before june 2008. thank proton. but we are waiting for your 4x4 whell
car.

Before adding the import Duty the City is around RM 52 K; It is still an unfair comparison because its priced at about 14 to 20 K more than the new Proton SAGA.

What do you mean you cannot compare the build quality of these cars? They are both in the economy category. Toyota Vios and Honda City are around the same price range before adding Import duty. Even after import duty , Toyota's and Honda's prices are not so far off Proton's. It is at 50k more, because of the market protection to proton that says no other import cars can be sold cheaper than Proton.
Other car manufacturer can come out with cheap and economy car ie. toyota Aygo yet the build quality is way better than that of Proton's. Well, to compare the new Saga with other cars is not unfair, Proton is not a new player in the car production industry. I think it's about time not to protect proton anymore.
This is my 2 sens, so if you are not happy with it bugger off.
If u have a 30k budget for a new car this should be a car you should look at, as for the interior its a 30k car and for a 30k car this is allrite
tq so much man..been waiting 4 a full exposure of this car. it really attracts me this 1. even Myvi didn't hav this much impact on me. plan 2 get 1 of these 4 myself. a really brilliant move from Proton this time. cheap price, sturdy car..
I am more of a bike guy now but need a car if the weather is bad, so Rm50k car is quite expensive for me since I am planning to get a ~RM20k bike. From the design and engine capacity, this will be the perfect car that I should own.
At first I was misled by some wrong information about the features, they say that the M-Line will have ABS but it seems now that it won't have it. I guess Proton is keeping some features for the H-line(if they exist anyway).
I really want to know what is the feel when you touch the dashboard, is it cheap and feel like plastic or sturdy and tough?
its gonna give big punch to Malaysian with its low pricetag... in a time being, we shall see this car every 3 cars on the road. just like myvi

This car is a very good bargain.
Performance and handling wise should be nice. Anyway it's considered small family car.
I'd say the new saga loooks good in that zirconia green or solid white. Those two are awesomely perfect for the car.
Sweeeeeeeeet, this is what Malaysian needed a cheap full fledge sedan! Someone already booked one and the color is either black or white but Which one look better? personally I like black.
The exterior look sooo good but the interior is so simple and be something to desire. I won't mind throwing a few more $$ to make the interior look better but still it is acceptable if we think which demographic of buyers Proton are targeting.
This car is even better for first time buyers or students to learn to drive and commute daily since the price is ok and I must say it should be much more safer than a Kancil or Viva.
