PROTON PERSONA - Thats the official name for the new wira replacement model and just like its namesake, brings a totally awesome character to the proton line.

We were given a chance for a brief viewing session and testdrive for the New Proton Persona.

At first glance, the new Proton Persona looks very much like the Proton Gen2 - especially at the Front end and the back end of the Persona.

"This CAN'T be another bad marketing ploy from Proton" we thought, so we decided a closer inspection of the Persona was in order.

Right off the bat, the doors' 90' opening arc impressed us.

This would come in handy as a major selling point as it had been for Perodua's Myvi. And the door mechanism was of significant improvement over the Gen2 and the Perdana, with that solid thump of sound when you open or close the door, nicely polished off with a better door handle (compared to Gen2, yet again).

The 430 litres boot space coupled with the foldable rear seat is another feature worth mentioning because it does have enough space to fill in about 2 1/2 of Reza Razalis in there. Add in hydraulic lifters, and you have a car worth holding close to you during those cold lonely nights!

Stock ICE system in the car is similar to the one installed in the Gen2 with some major interior aesthetical differences:

1. The Proton Persona does come with a glovebox
2. The window control unit is now located on the driver's side with each passenger's side having one
3. It comes with a headrest now
4. Armrest
5. 12V Electrical Socket
6. Nicer Door Panels

More differences :-

8. More Legroom, bigger than Toyota Vios
9. Improve headroom clearance; comfortable enough for 6 feet high.
10.Trunk lid cylinder key ( the highline model is said to come with remote control trunk release)
