![]() ![]() Sources refered to by CAR Magazine hints that the V10 used in the current M5 will be dropped in favour of a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 in order to comply with ever tightening European emission legislations. If the rumour is correct, the next M5 will share the same engine with the X6, albeit in higher tune (540 bhp), massaged by the boffins at BMW M. Like the new M3 cabrio and M3 sedan, additional items like a 7-speed DCT twin clutch gearbox is also likely. Shots of the disguised prototype vehicle reveal some telling M-car hints : the larger wheels and brakes, lower ride height, quad exhausts.
