The Australian motoring website Car Central has published a set of spyshots of the new Lexus RX (Harrier) in very mild disguise. No information on the location was given but judging by the fact that the vehicle is a left-hand drive version, I reckoned that it should be in the US.

As the new RX pretty much carries over the current RX's design, including the signature taillamps and three-quarter rear windows, it is not too difficult to guess how it will look like. The crew at AutoExpress has published the rendering below.

A one-time darling of grey market importers, the Lexus RX started life as the Toyota Harrier RX240 and RX300. A two-wheel drive version was even offered in the US. By the time second generation Harrier was released, plans were already in place by Toyota to gradually harmonise all Toyota-Lexus equivalent models into the Lexus brand name. Hence, the Harrier 240G and 300G were eventually replaced by the Lexus RX350 during the mid-life facelift.

The 3rd generation Lexus RX is expected to be previewed to the world in the coming 2008 Mondial de l'Automobile (Paris Motor Show) in October. Sales are expected to begin by early 2009.
