Overall winners in the past two years, Tengku Djan Ley Tengku Mahaleel ventured into unchartered territories in Sepang’s Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race this year; driving a 1600cc Proton Satria Neo and facing his toughest battle ever in his participation of the 12-hour endurance race.
In a bizarre twist of events on the final day of registration, Malaysia’s 14-year old racing wonderkid Jazeman Jaafar is making his debut in the 2007 Petronas Primax 3 Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race; declaring that he is ready to battle against the big boys.
With 309 drivers and 103 cars registered for the eighth edition of the MME this year, 78 drivers would need to pack their racing suits with their 26 cars leaving the pit garages as only a maximum 77 cars would be allowed to start the race in accordance to the FIA circuit license granted to SIC.
Honda Malaysia threw a party to unveil their 2007 Merdeka Millennium Endurance (MME) race cars, Car 26 and Car 27 as well as to introduce the Honda Malaysia Racing Team (HMRT) members and line up of six drivers. 2007 MME’s Car 26 is a Civic Type R locally built at Honda’s Malacca plant, while Car 27 is a Civic Type R built in Japan.
