Muhammad Khairun Cuganathan is deaf and he wants to race cars. His handicap, however, prevents him from doing so because Malaysia’s racing authorities has denied him a racing license.Undeterred, Khairun, however, had remained determined to be part of the 2007 Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race, which will be held at Sepang Circuit from tomorrow (August 23) to August 25.
Tested at the track at the MME practice last Sunday,
the mean black Ford Falcon machine caught the attention of other drivers and
teams with its thunderous roar and blazing speed. A powerful machine of up to
650bhp, the V8 machine could accelerate up to 300kms per hour, the Ford Falcon
would have huge advantage over the two long straights at Sepang Circuit.
Short of conceding defeat, 2003 winner Eric Yeo says
that he and his G1-JPM Racing Team will need ‘plenty of miracles’ to win the
2007 Petronas Primax 3 Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race (MME) at Sepang Circuit
this Saturday.
Team G-1 JPM yesterday gathered in an upbeat ceremony in Kuala Lumpur announcing their participation and unveiling the team mean machines competing in the Merdeka Millennium Endurance ( MME ) Race 2007 to be held 25th August at the Sepang International Circuit.Unveiled yesterday was a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 Spec II Nurburging ( only 1000 units ) ,the same car that was used in Class 'O' category last year and also a Porsche GT3 RS - locally prepared by JPM.The latter will be entering the Class 'A' category.Team G-1 JPM will be retaining their drivers' lineup for the fourth year in a row.Last year the Firhat-Eric-TJ trio finished second overall in the championship while the JP-Jeffrey-TP won third place in the Class 'A' competition.
Defeated by a blown engine in qualifying two years ago, R2 Racing Team is
returning to Sepang this year for the 12-hour Petronas Primax 3 Merdeka
Millennium Endurance to fulfill an unfinished mission and to make their
mark in the local motorsports scene.
